The Perfect Fit: How to Measure Your Ring Size at Home

Ring Size Guide Pakistan | How to Measure Ring Size at Home

You have found the perfect ring. It is a stunning 18K gold solitaire that you know she will love, or perhaps a gemstone statement ring you have been eyeing for yourself. You are ready to click "Add to Cart." But then, you hesitate.

What if it doesn't fit?

There is nothing more disappointing than receiving a beautiful piece of jewelry only to find it spinning loosely on your finger or, worse, getting stuck at the knuckle. In Pakistan, where ring sizing charts can vary between "US Standard" and local measurements, the confusion is real.

At Hamzah Anis, we believe that luxury should fit flawlessly. Because we are a manufacturing house, we can resize almost any piece to the nearest millimeter. However, getting the size right the first time is always better.

Here is our expert guide to measuring your ring size at home with professional accuracy.

Method 1: The "Existing Ring" Test (Most Accurate)

If you are buying a gift for someone else (or yourself) and you have access to a ring that already fits that specific finger perfectly, this is the safest method.

  1. Take the ring and place it on a ruler.

  2. Measure the Internal Diameter. This is crucial. Do not measure the metal part. Measure the empty space inside the circle.

  3. Record the measurement in millimeters (e.g., 16.5mm).

  4. Check this measurement against our Size Chart. For example, 16.5mm roughly corresponds to a US Size 6.

Method 2: The "Paper Strip" Technique

If you do not have a ring to copy, you need to measure the finger itself. Do not use a string, as strings can stretch and give you an inaccurate reading. Use a strip of paper.

  1. Cut a thin strip of paper (about 1 cm wide).

  2. Wrap the paper around the base of the finger.

  3. Crucial Step: Make sure the paper can slide over your Knuckle. Many people have knuckles that are wider than the base of their finger. If you measure only the base, the ring won't get past the knuckle.

  4. Mark the point where the paper overlaps with a pen.

  5. Unroll the paper and measure the length with a ruler in millimeters. This is the Circumference.

  6. Use our chart to convert Circumference to Ring Size.

The "Wide Band" Rule

Not all rings fit the same. The design matters.

If you are buying a delicate, thin band (like a solitaire engagement ring), your standard size will work perfectly.

However, if you are buying a Wide Band or a stack of rings that covers more of your finger, you need to size up.

A wide ring compresses more skin, making it feel tighter. We always recommend going Half a Size Up for wide bands to ensure comfort and breathability for the skin.

US vs. Pakistan Sizes: Clearing the Confusion

In Pakistan, jewelers use a mix of standards. Some use the "US Scale" (Numbers 5, 6, 7), while older local jewelers might use "British/PK Scale" (Letters L, M, N).

At Hamzah Anis, we primarily use the US Standard (Numerical) because it is the most precise global standard.

  • Common Size 6 (US) = Size L (UK/PK) = 16.5mm Diameter.

  • Common Size 7 (US) = Size N (UK/PK) = 17.3mm Diameter.

If you are ever unsure, simply tell us the millimeter measurement. That is the universal language of jewelry.

The Benefit of Real Gold

Here is the good news. Because Hamzah Anis sells Fine Jewelry (Real Gold), resizing is almost always possible.

Unlike artificial jewelry, which is plated and cannot be cut without ruining the finish, solid 18K or 21K gold can be resized by our craftsmen. We can cut the shank, add or remove gold, and solder it back together so perfectly that the join is invisible.

So, if you get the size slightly wrong, it is not a disaster. It is a quick fix in our workshop.

A Final Secret for Gifting

Are you trying to propose or buy a surprise gift without asking for her size?

Try the "Soap Impression" trick. Briefly press one of her rings into a bar of soap to leave an impression, then bring that bar of soap to us. We can measure the diameter from the imprint instantly.
